Xiaomi says no Mi Note or Mi Max smartphones this year

Loads of people know about Xiaomi’s Redmi family and Mi flagships, but the Mi Note and Mi Max devices have also been a fixture over the years. Unfortunately, the company has revealed we won’t see new additions to these lines in 2019. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun announced the news on Weibo (h/t: GSMArena), saying there are “no plans” for new Mi Note and Mi Max devices this year. The CEO confirmed Xiaomi’s focus on the Mi flagship line, Mi Mix series, and the new Mi CC line.

Google has been up to some big things in the past few months, including playing around with the very ABC’s that structure the company and announcing Android 6.0. Rumors and leaks have been flowing freely as well, of new Nexus products and even a second Chromecast. While we don’t know exactly what Mountain View has on the plates, we do know when it plans to serve them: earlier today the search giant sent out official RSVP invites for an event to be held on September 29th from 9AM in San Francisco.

The long-awaited Google Pixel Buds 2 recently went to market in April and users are already facing multiple audio issues with them. A number of users say that the audio on their Pixel Buds 2 randomly cuts out for a few seconds when the phone connected to them is placed in a pocket. Sonos launches a new free radio streaming service

Speaker company Sonos just made a surprise announcement. As of today, it offers a free ad-supported streaming service called Sonos Radio. The service is accessible within the Sonos app, and existing Sonos device owners will see the service land as part of today’s software update. Sonos Radio is not a complete streaming replacement, though. Customers can still use their existing streaming services on their Sonos speakers like Apple Music, Pandora, and Spotify.

New 10-inch 4K display from JDI could appear on the Xperia Z3 Tablet

Click for full size The steady march towards 4K on mobile devices continues, with Japan Display Inc (JDI) announcing the availability of its first 10.1-inch tablet display of 4K resolution. JDI is now shipping samples of the new IPS LCD panel, which features a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, qualifying it for the 4K moniker. The display maker actually calls this resolution “4K2K” or “ultra-high resolution”. At 10.1-inch, the panel will feature an amazing 438ppi pixel density, putting it on par with current generation smartphones.

T-Mobile to ship Samsung Galaxy S8 pre-orders early

Update, April 17: It’s not just T-Mobile. It looks like Verizon is shipping some Galaxy S8 Plus orders early. According to a tip from one of our readers, the Big Red network has already shipped some Galaxy S8 Plus orders, with the delivery scheduled for Wednesday, April 19. That’s two days before the official Galaxy S8 release date of April 21, and potentially sooner than T-Mobile. TELUS Canada to Unleash 4G Samsung Galaxy S2 X on October 28

TELUS Canada, one of the leading Canadian telecommunications companies, has finally provided a release date for its bigger-screened variant of the Samsung Galaxy S2–October 28–from which date the handset will start becoming available. The Canadian carrier’s variant of the Samsung blockbuster Android smartphone will be branded as the 4G Samsung Galaxy S2 X, and although TELUS has not yet revealed its pricing, the handset will most likely bear a US$99 price tag under a three-year contract.
