Intel to move away from silicon chips at 7nm

Intel plans to address the state of their 14nm, 10nm and future 7nm chips at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) this year. While the majority of their presentation will be focused around their current 14nm chips, the company plans to discuss how it will continue the journey 10nm and even to 7nm in the years to come. Intel’s 14nm technology is what we have access to currently, and the first chips based on the 10nm process won’t be available to the public until early 2017.

Chrome surpasses IE, claims one third of the browser market

Who knew that Google Chrome would get so far? It now accounts for 1/3 of the market, and it has the highest browser market share as well, surpassing the total market share of IE (IE7, IE8, IE9) on its own. Chrome took 33.4% market share in June, according to StatCounter, while IE took only 32%. Firefox was at 23.7%, while Safari was at 7.1%. What’s nice about Chrome is that it auto-updates every few weeks, so pretty much everyone is on the latest version of Chrome, benefiting from the latest features and latest performance improvements, and enjoying faster-loading web pages.

Federal court bans random phone and laptop searches at US airports

Travelling to and from the US anytime soon? There’s a smaller chance you’ll be subjected to random phone searches at the border. A Boston federal court has put a stop to suspicionless searches of travelers’ electronic devices in the US. Random searches of phones and laptops have become quite rampant in the US. Last year, the US government conducted more than 33,000 searches of travelers’ devices. The number reflects a four-fold surge in the past three years.

Samsung lists its first 512GB microSD card, but it ain't cheap

TL;DR Samsung is set to release its 512GB microSD memory card. It’s not cheap, though. It is currently listed on the German version of its website for 289.90 euros (~$330.75).
