the most power-efficient processor in the world

Regular Android Authority readers, as well as tech-buffs, know that the mobile processor market is (and has been for the past years) under an almost complete ARM dominance. OK, so what about the big smartphone CPU manufacturers, such Qualcomm, Nvidia, Samsung, Texas Instruments, or Apple? Don’t they have anything to “say” about this? Well, the thing is most smartphone CPU’s are actually built on ARM-developed architectures, no matter if we’re talking about Qualcomm’s S3 and S4 chips, Samsung’s Exynos, or Apple’s A5X SoC.

AT&T updates HTC One M8, free 50 GB Google Drive offer is a go!

Annoying bugs have your spirits feeling low? It’s time to celebrate as AT&T updates its HTC One M8, as previously promised. The anticipated update fixes a bug that was not to be taken lightly. In fact, it may have been a big incentive to purchase this device. The infamous bug was not allowing users to redeem the free 50 GB of Google Drive storage being offered with every HTC One M8 purchase.

The Huawei Nova 2S looks sharp in leaked pictures

When Huawei announced the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus in May, I didn’t think we would be talking about a sequel before the year was done. Well, it’s December, and that’s exactly what we’re doing, thanks to some leaked pictures and a press invite. The leaked images you see below, spotted by GSMArena, show off the Nova 2S, which looks to be the mid-cycle upgrade to the Nova 2. If the images are to be believed, the Nova 2S will come in three colors: black, white, and blue.

5.9-inch Galaxy Note 3 reportedly being demoed to AT&T execs this week

The recently unveiled Samsung Galaxy Pad gaming accessory, for the Galaxy S4 and up to 6.3-inch touchscreen devices, prompted plenty of speculation that the Galaxy Note 3 will come with a 6.3-inch display, just as some reports suggested in the past. A new Korea Times article says that AT&T and Samsung execs will meet in Seoul, South Korea, this week to discuss the launch and AT&T promotion of the upcoming smartphone.

Alcatel Idol 4S is now $350 without its bundled VR headset at Amazon

Earlier this year, Alcatel launched the Idol 4S smartphone for $399.99. In an industry first, that price also included a virtual reality headset that was bundled with the 5.5-inch smartphone. Today, the company is offering the same phone with a $50 discount down to $349.99 on Amazon. However, the phone at this price does not come bundled with the VR headset, nor with the previously included Incipio case. The best budget phones you can currently buy

Android 4.3, new Nexus device hinted at by alleged Gmail redesign screenshots?

Speculation based on recent Gmail rumors and previous press photos used by the company to promote several Nexus devices seems to indicate that Android 4.3 and/or a new Nexus device may arrive soon. A reddit user posted a series of interesting images (available below) that show press images for almost all of Google’s Nexus devices revealing the connection of those photos with the Android version they were launched with. Sure, this is just speculation for now, but here’s what you’ll see in the images below (check out the time shown on the handsets and tablets):

One M10 boasts a “very, very compelling camera” says HTC

Leaked picture apparently showing the HTC One M10’s rear camera HTC’s next flagship smartphone, tentatively known as the One M10, is nearing its April 11th launch date and the company has now begun dripping out a few teasers. Speaking in an interview at MWC, HTC CFO Chialin Chang has been suggesting that we will see a much improved camera inside the Taiwanese company’s next flagship smartphone. Hit and miss camera performance was a common criticism levelled at HTC’s last few generations of One flagship handsets.

Samsung and Google should steal this old LG camera feature

Hadlee Simons / Android Authority It’s a shame LG left the smartphone industry, as the company always had a reputation for trying new and quirky things. This was particularly true in the camera space, as it debuted features like ultrawide cameras, manual video modes, and flexible triple rear cameras. However, there’s one underappreciated LG camera feature that deserves some love and should be copied by other smartphone companies. We’re talking about LG’s Graphy functionality.

Samsung Galaxy S8 may be coming sooner than expected, reportedly dubbed SM-950 and 955

The Note 7 might not be the latest hotness (bad pun, sorry) from Samsung much longer, at least if new reports of a faster release for the Samsung Galaxy S8 pan out. Okay, so we all know the Galaxy Note 7 has been the talk of the virtual town for all the wrong reasons recently, whether at Android Authority, big news outlets, or even when talking to that annoying neighbor that sees you have a Samsung phone and asks if it is going to explode.

Galaxy S8 promises better photos, especially from the front

Though not much has changed in terms of Galaxy S8’s rear camera (for better or worse), the front-facing camera has been completely revamped. Galaxy S8 vs S8 Plus: which one is right for you? Features I’m not going to lie – when I heard that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus would have the same 12-megapixel camera found on last year’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, I was rather disappointed.
