Alcatel OneTouch Go Play hands-on

Alcatel OneTouch unveiled a variety of new device at IFA 2015, including a new mid-range device called the Go Play, which packs decent entry-level specs and a sporty design that shows a bit more creativity and style than you’ll find with many similarly spec’d offerings. We managed to get a little hands on time with the Go Play in order to bring you a quick first look. The Go Play might be pretty decidedly mid-range, but it is available for people young and old that have a more playful side to them, and that should be obvious given the variety of colors that are available.

Google still wants to work with Huawei, has applied for license

Arguably the biggest issue with the US trade ban against Huawei is that the firm can’t use Google Mobile Services (GMS) on its new phones and tablets. This has forced the Chinese brand to create its own Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) as an alternative to Google’s services. Now, Android and Google Play vice-president Sameer Samat has told DPA (via Finanzen) that Google has applied to the US government to resume business dealings with Huawei.

Xiaomi’s foldable phone patent shows pop-up camera, clamshell design

Xiaomi teased a foldable smartphone prototype back in January but we haven’t really heard much from the company after that. It’s possible the firm is simply waiting for the right time to launch them. Meanwhile, a 2018 patent filed by the Chinese company has recently been approved. It has also made its way into the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) database. Spotted by LetsGoDigital, the Xiaomi patent shows a Moto Razr-like clamshell foldable phone.

So what exactly is in the cards for them? If a recent report on All Things D is to be believed, the next big step for Asus is a bold entry into the competitive smartphone market in the U.

GREE unleashes military-themed game Modern War in Google Play

Although it operates the largest social networking service in Japan and it has seen some success with a couple of basic, but addictive iOS games, GREE hasn’t made much efforts to get into the Android game (both literally and figuratively). The only GREE title available in Google Play until a few days ago was Crime City, a crime game that probably doesn’t say much to many of you. However, the new Modern War might just put GREE on the Android map, as it looks like a pretty fun and challenging little MMO war game.
