Honor Watch GS Pro and Honor Watch ES announced

TL;DR Honor is unveiling the Watch GS Pro, a rugged smartwatch with 25-day battery life in normal use. It can even route you home without a phone. It’s also introducing a Watch ES focused on fashion and fitness, including a personal virtual coach. Honor’s smartwatches have had trouble standing out, but that might change with the two models it’s introducing at IFA 2020. The Honor Watch GS Pro is a rugged model built for outdoor enthusiasts, with MIL-STD 810G heat, shock, and water resistance in a reinforced polycarbonate (read: plastic) body good for depths of up to 164 feet.

Leaked 2016 Nexus Launcher ditches app drawer icon, adds “G” tab

2016’s Nexus smartphones are just around the corner, and if these sources are to be believed, then we might have just gotten our first glimpse at the launcher that we’ll be seeing on devices like Marlin and Sailfish. It’s worth emphasizing that these are only rumors at the time. Although Android Police is reporting that they are receiving this information from reliable sources, it’s always possible that design changes will be coming down the pipeline that could seriously alter the appearance of this launcher.

Nreal Light Mixed Reality Glasses hands-on: I'm a believer

If you told me one of my favorite announcements from CES was going to be a pair of mixed reality glasses, I would’ve called you crazy. Maybe I’m the crazy one because I spent some time with Nreal’s upcoming Light mixed reality glasses and I’m very much on board. Nreal first announced the Light glasses at CES 2019 but didn’t plan to ship them to consumers until 2020. They’re supposed to arrive soon, but we don’t have anything other than an “early 2020” estimate from the company.

The latest Mercedes-Benz cars can connect to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa

If you own a 2016 or 2017 model car from Mercedes-Benz in the US, you can now use either Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa as your voice-activated helper. Google Assistant will work with the Google Home speaker, while Alexa will work with the Amazon Echo family of speakers. The new features mean that owners of those luxury vehicles with one or both of those speakers will be able to say things like, “Ok, Google, tell Mercedes me to start my car” while at home, and the car will start before the owner gets to the garage.

This home-made Smart Mirror that runs Google Now is the IoT device we all want

When the world doesn’t offer you a Smart Mirror, sometimes you just have to make one yourself. At least, you do if you’re a software engineer at Google with a bit of spare time on your hands. Max Braun created this awesome DIY Smart Mirror in his spare time, and it runs Google Now. Using a two-way mirror, display panel, some cheap components and a controller board, Braun was able to create a very polished-looking result, right up there with the best Internet of Things products made by actual manufacturers.

new Exynos 5 Dual beats Apple’s A6 chip, Atom Z2460

The new Samsung Chromebook (sold out in hours after being put on sale yesterday) is remarkable not only thanks to its low price of $249, but also due to the processor that powers it – an Exynos 5 Dual. The Exynos 5 Dual (Exynos 5250) is the world’s first mobile processor built on ARM’s new A15 architecture. For the 5250, Samsung paired a dual-core A15 CPU clocked at 1.7GHz with a Mali T604 GPU, which is another premiere.

Google Tasks is a new to-do list app to help you get things done, faster

Google has launched a standalone to-do list app known as Google Tasks. The new app, spotted by 9to5Google, features Gmail and Google Calendar integration as well as cross-platform support. Google Tasks lets users create tasks and subtasks which can be viewed, edited and managed on-the-go. These can be broken down into subtasks, given due dates with notification reminders, and created in-app or via Gmail or Calendar. It features a light, drag-and-drop interface in keeping with what we expect from the “Material Design Refresh” and, in my brief time with it, displayed the ease-of-use Google apps are known for.
