The Google Pixelbook is currently being sold with $250 off at various retailers (as spotted by Droid Life). This means that the base model now only costs $749 dollars, while the top model has been brought down to $1,399.  The base model comes with 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5 processor, and 128GB of SSD storage. There is also a model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage (for $949) as well as a top-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

Xiaomi Mi 9 said to be latest phone to support 60fps in Fortnite

Fortnite Mobile is one of the more demanding games on Android right now, but a select few devices are able to officially run the title at 60 frames per second (fps). Now, the latest device to join the party is reportedly the Xiaomi Mi 9. XDA-Developers reported that the Xiaomi flagship does indeed support the higher frame-rate, which should translate into a smoother visual experience. Developer Epic Games hasn’t updated its FAQ page with the new phone though, the outlet notes.

Google will take on Twitch this summer with YouTube Gaming

Although Google passed on the chance to purchase gaming giant Twitch last year (Amazon later bought the service for $1 billion), that doesn’t meant it’s giving up on the game streaming business altogether. As previously rumored, Google today has announced a new service called YouTube Gaming, an app and website that will be the new home to the company’s gaming video content. The service is slated to launch in the US and UK later this summer.

LG giving away a free VR headset with the purchase of an LG G3 (U.S. only)

LG has just announced that customers who purchase an LG G3 from select U.S. retailers will receive a free virtual reality headset with their purchase. The headset, which was announced last February, is essentially a plastic version of Google Cardboard built specifically for the G3. Though it’s built by LG, the headset utilizes the same VR content library as Cardboard which can be found in the Google Play Store. Just like Cardboard, VR for G3 features a neodymium ring magnet on the side that works with the magnetic gyroscope sensor in the G3 which allows the user to switch applications and scroll through menus without the need for a touchscreen display.
