Google Search lets you compare any two devices to your heart's content

From adding curves to checking for ebooks at your local library, Google‘s web search has been no stranger to design changes and added features. Over the weekend, Google added another feature, one that helps you compare two devices and see which one might be best for you. Google's Pixel 2 fabric cases are well worth the steep price tag News If you go to Google Search on mobile or desktop and type in “Pixel 2 vs iPhone X,” or any two devices with “vs” in the middle, a comparison chart should pop up.

Samsung Galaxy S8 nav bar update to reduce screen burn-in?

Update: Sam Mobile has noted that the update described below has also added a new prompt just above the navigation bar. The new “button" now reads “tap here to fill entire screen" in apps that don't natively support the Galaxy S8's 18.5:9 aspect ratio. While there's already a button in the app overview menu for that, it seems Samsung felt the need to make the option more explicit. Samsung has been rolling out Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus updates recently with Bixby improvements and fixes for SD card related issues.

More third-party smart speakers can make phone calls now

One of the most intuitive reasons one would want to own smart speakers is to be able to place hands-free phone calls. With Google’s line of Google Home hardware, it’s easy enough to say “OK, Google, call dad,” and the smart speaker takes care of everything (assuming you live in the U.S., Canada, or the U.K.). However, there are a lot of third-party smart speakers out there with Google Assistant integration, and some of them can’t make phone calls.

Instead of tossing your phone in the garbage, it might be better to just recycle your phone through T-Mobile, since the carrier will donate to charities for every device that is recycled. From December 1 through the end of the month, you can visit your local T-Mobile store and recycle your old phone or tablet.
