So, how can we actually experience Fiber? Building a fiber optic network is a huge task, so how does Google accomplish it all? More importantly, we want to know how we can get it in our cities.

Many Android OEMs bank on the name recognition of their popular, high-end smartphones by releasing different versions that share the flagship name. As manufacturers have tended to do, this is seen in the form of Plus iterations, that indicate a bigger size in general, and in some cases, more powerful specifications, and Lite versions, that take things down a notch in terms of size, specs, and most importantly price. This has become an increasingly common practice across the board, and Huawei is certainly not a stranger to it.

TL;DR Vivo announced its latest mid-range phone, the V11. The device offers an in-display fingerprint scanner and sub-flagship specs. The new phone also has a 25MP selfie camera and a variety of AI-branded features. Vivo made quite a splash when it demonstrated the X20 Plus UD and its in-display fingerprint scanner at CES 2018. Now, the company is hoping to bring some of that innovation to a lower price point with the new Vivo V11 (known as the V11 Pro in India).

Pre-installed Android apps will soon update even without a Google account

Google is notifying certain app developers about an upcoming change to the way the Google Play Store distributes app updates (via Android Police). In the future, it seems pre-installed apps will have access to updates even if you haven’t signed in with a Google account. When you first set up a new Android device, the pre-installed apps will be at the most recent version they were on when installed. To get the newest versions, you’ll have to sign in to the Google Play Store with a Google account.

Unity 5 game engine will get its last update in March, making way for Unity 2017

Mobile, console and PC game developers who work with the Unity engine will see some changes in how it is labeled in the next year. 1.2 million smartwatch units to sell this year, forecast says

Pebble smartwatch The smartwatch is a device on the rise this year, if we were to believe what an ABI Research forecast (press release below) says, with 1.2 million units expected to ship this year. The degree of penetration smartphones have achieved (35 percent of customers opt for high-end devices, another study says), “a flourishing app ecosystem,” as well as the fact that that components are getting cheaper, are the main reasons behind ABI’s prediction.

HP has just announced two new Android-powered tablets, the 12.3-inch HP Pro Slate 12 and the 7.9-inch HP Pro Slate 8. HP has never really been known to release tablets with amazingly up to date specifications, but these two tablets actually have the potential to run quite well. Both devices are running a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and both are only 8mm thick. The Pro Slate 8 is using a new Corning Gorilla Glass 4 panel, coming in with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and a pixel density of 326ppi.
