Classic Capcom platformer Ghosts 'n Goblins creeps onto Android

I had been waiting patiently for the day this job would give me a genuine opportunity to include the YouTube clip you’ll find below and I’m so happy I could whistle (unfortunately, I’m in a shared apartment and my roommates hate whistlers, so I haven’t whistled yet). You can enjoy that soon but first, here’s the news. Capcom’s 1985 arcade game Ghosts ’n Goblins, which has since been ported to many other consoles, has now arrived on Android.

Nokia 5.1 Plus now available in the US

Keep in mind that this is the Latin America variant of the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The phone will work just fine on AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks, though Sprint and Verizon subscribers are out of luck. Note that this is the version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage — there’s also a version of the Nokia 5.1 Plus with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, but that’s not available at B&H at this time.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 vs Galaxy Note 5

With the latest addition to the popular Galaxy Note series, Samsung decided to make the leap from 5 to 7. As is the case whenever a new generation of a device comes out, the question on everyone’s mind is whether it is a worthy upgrade. Sony Xperia X Compact hands on review

At IFA 2016, Sony announced two new additions to its Xperia X series: the Xperia XZ and the latest compact model, the Xperia X Compact. The Xperia X Compact is essentially a smaller version of the Xperia XZ, although it hasn’t exactly followed the same flagship-specs-in-a-compact-body recipe Sony employed with previous compacts. Some of the high-end features are there, but others are not. Check out our Sony Xperia X Compact hands on for our first impressions.

Google's new trade-in program can bag you up to $388 off a Pixel

Update, 09/28: After Google announced its online store trade in program recently, it was only a matter of time before the Google Pixel and Pixel XL were added to the eligible device roster. This move precedes the upcoming unveiling of the Pixel 2 devices next Wednesday, with those handsets presumably being made available at the online store soon after launch. The current Pixel trade in prices come in at the following:

How black wallpaper can save your Android battery

With every passing year the capability of mobile technology creeps toward its oldest and most powerful sibling, the desktop computer. Also, with every passing year, our mobile devices become more entrenched in our everyday experience, to the point where going without a smartphone for an entire day, or even a few hours, can causesignificant distress amongst everyone from casual to power users. Given the importance of smartphones, one would think our most coveted devices would be able to stand the test of time, yet as any modern smartphone user knows, mediocre battery life has us often feeling like a junkie desperately trying to (power)source their next fix.

PUBG: New State on Android has a release date

TL;DR PUBG: New State will launch in a stable form on November 11, 2021. The game will land on both Android and iOS in over 200 countries. There will be a final beta test for selected users at the end of this month. Although Fortnite seems to be what everyone’s talking about nowadays, it’s important to remember that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds — aka PUBG — started the whole battle royale craze.

The best iPhone X cases — Spigen, OtterBox, and more (2021)

As with any premium smartphone, the iPhone X family was never exactly cheap. Apple’s first dual-camera series launched at a whopping $999, and you may still have yours for that money. The phone boasts dust and water resistance, but that can only go so far. There’s plenty of real estate to crack with the bezel-less display, so you will want to grab yourself one of the best iPhone X cases on the market to protect it properly.

Track the coronavirus spread in the US with this app

The Weather ChannelIf you’re looking to track the coronavirus as it inevitably spreads across the United States, there’s a new tracking tool within The Weather Channel’s Android app. The Weather Channel sources its info from local governments as well as the World Health Organization (WHO). It’s a useful tool but also a very sobering — and terrifying — look at how fast the virus is spreading. It clearly indicates that things are getting worse, not better, and that it’s only a matter of time before pretty much every state sees cases in at least the triple digits.

Updated Google Keyboard now syncs your dictionary

A new update for the official Google Keyboard has landed on the Play Store, bringing with it some useful new features, while simultaneously chucking out a few less popular options. Unfortunately, there’s no sign of Android M’s split keyboard option yet, but that will probably arrive in time. The most notable and by far the most useful addition with Google Keyboard 4.1 is the ability to sync your dictionary to your Google account.
