The HTC U11 Plus was originally designed to be the Pixel 2 XL

If you pay attention to the rumor mill surrounding Google’s Pixel devices, you might remember a bit of drama earlier this year. According to The Verge, a source has confirmed that the device HTC had readied for Google as the Pixel 2 XL is now being released as the HTC U11 Plus. Instead of scrapping all of the engineering work and money poured into the project, HTC decided to move forward with some slight alterations and release the phone as its own.

Decent Boost Mobile plan costs just $10-per-month

TL;DR Boost Mobile has launched promo plans that offer calls, text, and 2GB of data starting at $10 per month. They’ll be available at those rates until the end of 2020. You’ll get less data once 2021 starts, however. Dish appears to have a simple strategy to reel you into Boost Mobile: by offering service at a price that might be too low to pass up. Boost Mobile has introduced a pair of promo phone plans that offer full service at prices well below what you’d normally pay, provided you’re willing to live within some limits.

Sadly, they were all a tad underwhelming this year, much like the lukewarm half-time show — and the scoreline. Still, if you missed them, here’s a rundown of the major Super Bowl tech adverts from this year’s game.

HTC Sense TV - what is it, how will it work?

Since theHTC One was launched last month, there has been quite a bit of excitement surrounding the extra software that it brought. One piece of software in particular is HTC Sense TV. The title may be misleading as it isn’t exactly a way for you to watch TV on the device, but rather a more intuitive way for you to control it. The software will display a TV Guide-like interface that will allow you to easily change channels due to the built-in IR sensor on the phone’s power button.

Lasers make everything cool, vacuuming included

Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority I’m a self-professed nerd. And like any self-respecting nerd, I love lasers. Lightsabers, Captain Kirk’s phaser, and of course, the light cycles in Tron, what’s not to like about them? But while all those examples are incredibly cool, futuristic visions of lasers in use, I didn’t realize that the coolest implementation I’d come across would be the laser on the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Total Clean, also known as the Dyson V15 Detect ($749.

Amazon Echo vs Google Nest

Google’s first smart speaker, the Home, was released in 2016. At launch, many people were disappointed with the capabilities of the Google Home vs Amazon Echo. The original Echo had already been on the market for almost two years, giving Amazon a headstart. Google has since made a huge number of improvements, including hands-free calling, ever-growing smart home control, and visual interfaces on smart displays. Things have changed so much that the only place you’ll see the Home name now is in a mobile app.
