There will be no Google Pixel 4a 5G or Google Pixel 5 India launches. Google confirmed the news today within a Pixel 4a press release. It is possible this news relates to the Pixel 5 having Motion Sense. While these two phones will see launches in various parts of the world before the end of 2020, there will not be Google Pixel 4a 5G or Google Pixel 5 India or Singapore launches.
As bezels decrease on new phones thanks to improved display technologies, manufacturers are faced with an obvious problem: where will all the things that people like to have on the front of their phones go?
Front-facing cameras, speakers, buttons, and fingerprint sensors are being shuffled around or replaced by the likes of gestures, under-glass solutions and relocation. Xiaomi tried “cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic technology” to address the earpiece speaker, Samsung finally relented and moved its trademark fingerprint scanner to the back of the phone, and we’ve now seen a pop-up selfie camera in a bezel-less concept from Vivo that has the added benefit of an under-glass fingerprint sensor.

The first render of the OnePlus Watch just “leaked” through Unbox Therapy. OnePlus shared Unbox’s “leak” shortly after, so this is clearly what the watch really looks like. The design is very similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. We’ve been hearing about OnePlus’ upcoming smartwatch for quite a while now, but only just today are we finally seeing it. Thanks to a render leaked through Unbox Therapy on Twitter (mirrored above), we can see the watch up-close and personal.

Clubhouse has started testing a ‘rough’ beta version of its Android app. The team hinted at a wider launch in the coming weeks. Audio chatroom app Clubhouse has made waves over the past few months, but one of the biggest downsides to the service is that it’s an iOS-only app. The Clubhouse team has already confirmed that an Android version is in the works, but it now looks like a beta version is on the way too.
An expandable external storage is really an advantage if you need more storage space on your Android phone or tablet. However, having both internal and external storage can be a problem, as well, since some Android apps are not programmed to read data on external SD cards. Rather, such apps treat the internal storage as also the external storage; thus, such apps are unable to access the files you’ve stored on your external microSD card.
TL;DR
The Motorola Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play are now available to buy in the U.S. The vanilla Moto E5 however, is not. Pricing and naming for the two available devices are erratic across carriers. Earlier this month, we posted an article detailing the pricing and country launches of several Motorola devices. The information presented was confusing, to say the least. Certain phones are only launching in certain countries, and many of the price points were in foreign currency or not available.
Universal Flash Storage (UFS) memory cards appear to be on the way, promising faster memory speeds to keep up with ever faster smartphones. Samsung recently announced some details about its first UFS memory cards, and there will be plenty of other manufacturers coming forth with their own models based on the JEDEC Universal Flash Storage 1.0 Card Extension standard over the next year or so.
We’ve actually heard a fair bit about UFS memory in the past, as it’s also looking to replace the eMMC memory modules used for the main storage inside smartphones, Chromebooks, and low cost notebooks.
