Get Google Assistant on your Nougat device

When Google Allo first premiered, people were actually most impressed – not by the messaging platform’s features, which were lacking – but by the Google Assistant companion that accompanied it. It was the first glimpse we got of an entity that’s slated to reside not only in Allo, but also in Google Home and Pixel devices. But now it appears that any device running Nougat, even if they aren’t #MadeByGoogle, can house the search giant’s affable assistant.

We’ve learned quite a bit already about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S10 and have even seen a few renders. Now, though, we have our very first look at what appears to be a real-life image of the Galaxy S10 from trusted smartphone industry leaker @EVLeaks (a.k.a. Evan Blass). According to Blass, the model depicted in the image below is the “Beyond 1” variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10, which essentially means the “vanilla” model.

‘Mini MicroSD Reader’ for Nexus 7 and other Android devices

A new Kickstarter campaign describes a “mini MicroSD reader for Android smartphones and tablets” that could be used with devices that don’t have microSD support including the Nexus 7, but also with devices that support “USB host or USB-OTG (On-The-Go).” Hating the Nexus 7’s lack of MicroSD storage expansion, brothers Andy and Rich developed the prototype and now are looking to raise $5,000 to start production for the tiny gadget – at the time this article was written, 344 backers had already pledged $3,789, with 28 days to go.
