Lenovo Smart Tab M10 is a tablet and a smart display

Lenovo’s tablets in its Smart Tab line are quite interesting. They’re decent tablets on their own but when you dock them they become more akin to an Amazon Echo smart display, powered by Alexa. At CES 2020, the company unveiled the newest entry in the family, the Lenovo Smart Tab M10. However, that’s not the full name of the device. The full, official name of the tablet is the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 FHD Plus 2nd Gen with Google Assistant.

The Croods now available through Google Play

Quite a departure from Angry Birds and its spin-offs, Rovio and DreamWorks have teamed up to bring you The Croods, which is available now via Google Play. Instead of flinging birds across the gamestage, the game is all about hunting and gathering while finding unique creatures along the way. While the ‘creatures’ are somewhat inspired by primitive-era mammals, they certainly have a dose of fantasy added in thanks to wacky looks and crazy names like “molarbear” and “girelephant”.

TL;DR Bloomberg reports that Verizon has dropped plans to sell Huawei phones in the US. Verizon is said to have been pressured by the US government to call off the deal over security concerns. Verizon has cancelled plans to sell Huawei phones in the US, according to speculation from Bloomberg. The news site’s sources indicated that pressure from the US government prompted Verizon’s decision, which stands to set Huawei’s US expansion goals back once again.

Chrome for Android receives optimized Safe Browsing features

Google’s Chrome for Android has been receiving a few updates in the closing quarter of the year and the browser is now boasting tougher security features as well. Coming (almost) straight from the company’s desktop software, Chrome Safe Browsing is now built into version 46 of Chrome for Android. The updated security features are designed to offer additional protection against malware, unwanted software and social engineering websites. If you accidentally stumble onto a suspicious page, Chrome will now offer up a big red warning page and to let you have another think about the site.

Could the Pixel 5 have reverse wireless charging? Android 11 makes us think so.

Reverse wireless charging has always been a weird feature. Ever since we first saw it in the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, it was clear that, while convenient, you usually lost way more power than you transferred to the other phone. But when Samsung first launched the Galaxy Buds with the Samsung Galaxy S10 series, it became clear to me that this feature was way more useful for accessories, which tend to have much smaller batteries.

Sony toying with stock Android ROMs for its major devices

Sony has been one of the more developer friendly OEMs over the past few years, opening up its bootloaders, kernel source code, and driver binaries to aid others in the development of custom ROMs and the like. The company looks set to take its relationship with the custom ROM community one step further, but providing stock Android (AOSP) ROMs for its major smartphones in the future. Back in June, Alin Jerpelea from CyanogenMod’s FreeXperia team joined Sony’s Developer Program, and he has been giving a talk at the XDA Devcon this week about where Sony will be taking ROM support in the future.

Huawei Ascend G6 hands on (MWC 2014)

The Ascend G6 is rather premium looking device that continues with the design language that Huawei introduced last year with the Ascend P6. You get the same clean lines without many needless flourishes, the same rounded bottom, and the same placement of buttons and ports. The back plate of the device is a smooth plastic that doesn’t pick up a lot of fingerprints and oil stains. The faux metal accents around the camera and on the sides also complement the main material nicely.
