With a glorious history going back over 70 years and still one of the most important camera manufacturers in the world, Polaroid is not exactly a small company, but we surely didn’t expect it to get in the Android tablet business anytime soon.

Galaxy S7 has the best smartphone display, says DisplayMate

Samsung has a reputation for being at the forefront of smartphone display technology, with both last year’s Galaxy S6 and Note 5 boasting the best displays in the business for their time. Samsung appears to have struck gold once again with its Galaxy S7, as testing from DisplayMate reveals that the new handset has the best display around. DisplayMate was granted access to an early production unit to put through its usual selection of display tests.

Twitter poised to kill all third-party apps like Plume and Talon (Updated)

Update (04/08/18): The social network has tweeted some clarification regarding the change. Twitter will delay the scheduled June 19 depreciation date to another time, though it’s not clear as to when that will happen. “As always, we’re committed to providing ample time to migrate,” tweeted the official Twitter Dev account. Twitter reminds users that it will provide 90 days notice before the depreciation date is scheduled to take place. Last year we announced our plan to retire Site Streams & User Streams, and replace them with the Account Activity API (currently in beta).

Upcoming Huawei phone could feature a massive 6.9-inch display

TL;DR Huawei has reportedly ordered 6.9-inch display panels from Samsung for an upcoming device. Samsung is expected to supply the panels in Q3 2018. The device could be released in either Q4 2018 or Q1 2019. There is no solid info about which Huawei series will use the large displays. Huawei could be thinking big for an upcoming device as reports suggest that it has ordered 6.9-inch rigid OLED display panels from Samsung for use in an upcoming smartphone.

Google Camera will update UI, fix Pixel plaguing bug

The line of Google Pixel devices is known to have some of the best smartphone cameras on the market thanks to a combination of high-end hardware and Google’s software enhancements. That doesn’t mean the devices are flawless though, and the next update — Google Camera 7.0 — looks like it will fix some of the issues people are currently having. Some of the previous camera issues have already been addressed, but XDA Developers spotted a bug report that shows Google is now focusing on updating the UI and increasing the camera app’s overall performance.

Gboard update brings Emoji 12.0, nav bar color matching, more

A new Google Gboard update is rolling out right now, bringing with it a few new features. One of them isn’t in the changelog but is particularly nice: a color-matching nav bar which changes depending on your Gboard theme. On previous versions of Gboard, your Android nav bar would be one of two colors: black or white. If your Gboard theme is very colorful, it didn’t look quite right to have the nav bar stand out so much.
