German camera maker Leica has worked with many smartphone makers before but never launched a phone under its own banner. That changes today with the Leitz Phone 1. This is the first smartphone that not only features a Leica-made camera system but also gets its signature branding. Announced at a Tokyo press event (via Engadget Japan), the new Leica phone might seem familiar to many. TL;DR Android Oreo is now rolling out for the Huawei Mate 9 in the U.S. The update also introduces Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 software skin and the January 2018 security patch. Huawei promises to deliver monthly updates to higher-end phones like the Mate 9. Earlier today, Droid Life spotted that the cookie-branded update is rolling out to models MHA-L29 and MHA-L09. The former is the one sold in the U.S. through Best Buy and other retailers, though both models are the international variants.

HTC teases a "big technological breakthrough" with the Vive at CES 2016

HTC CEO Cher Wang says she has something big for us to look forward to at CES 2016. At today’s Vive Unbound developers forum in China, Cher Wang said that her team and Valve have made “a very, very big technological breakthrough” with their Vive virtual reality system. While we aren’t entirely sure what this big upgrade is about, Wang did say that it’ll be shown off for the very first time at CES 2016 in early January.
