Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow lands for the Galaxy Note 5

Update, February 24: Following the start in Cambodia, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is rolling out to the Note 5 in South Korea. So far, local carriers LG U Plus and SK Telecom are rolling out the OTA, with the other major operators to follow soon. We’ll keep you posted with details regarding the update for other markets. Exynos SoC coming? (Updated: Nope)

TL;DR Samsung has announced an Exynos launch on November 19. We’re guessing the company will launch its first AMD-powered Exynos processor. Update: November 10, 2021 (4:34 AM ET): Well, Samsung has taken to social media to refute any suggestions that it’s holding an Exynos launch on November 19. Instead, the company says a recent post (seen in the original article below) was meant to convey that changes are coming to its social accounts.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip scratch test questions ultra-thin glass claim

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip boasts at least one structural improvement that makes its display better than the Galaxy Fold from last year. It uses a new ultra-thin glass (UTG) screen instead of a plastic display. This was supposed to make the Galaxy Z Flip’s display more resistant to scratches compared to the Galaxy Fold’s plastic screen. However, a durability test of the phone suggests otherwise. The display starts scratching at level two on the Mohs scale (equivalent to gypsum).

Apple will hold an event Sept. 14, likely for the iPhone 13 reveal

TL;DR Apple just announced it will hold an online event on Tuesday, September 14 where the iPhone 13 reveal is likely to happen. Apple could also show off new versions of its Apple Watch, AirPods, and more at the event. It begins at 1 p.m. Eastern time (10 a.m. Pacific time). Apple’s biggest launch event of the year is likely coming soon. Today, the company announced it will hold an online event on Tuesday, September 14.

Edison Mail now allows you to block email addresses

If you use the highly-rated email app Edison Mail you’ll find there’s a new feature available today. Now, you can easily block email addresses when you receive something you don’t want. Going forward, instead of just deleting a message you don’t care about, you should instead block the address. Doing so will automatically forward any future messages from that address straight to the trash without you ever knowing it even existed.

Gmail for Android makes it much easier to block senders and unsubscribe from email lists

Google is rolling out an update to its Gmail for Android application, bringing two new features that will help manage your email much more easily. “Block Sender” and “Unsubscribe” functionality is coming to the app, allowing you to quickly block or unsubscribe from unwanted mailing lists. It’s easy to see why Google is bringing these features to Gmail. Unsubscribing from mailing lists is one of the most annoying parts of email in today’s age, and giving users the ability to do this in just a few taps will make managing your inbox a breeze.

Update: Plex Live TV now available on Roku

Update (10/12/17): Plex is now rolling out the Live TV to Roku users. Previously, the service had only been available for Android, Android TV, iOS, Apple TV, Fire TV, and on the Plex web app. Now Roku users with software version v5.0.4 or newer and access to the Roku Preview Channel can get in on the action too. Almost all the features you’d see on other devices are here too. You can watch live TV, play, pause, and skip around, and watch recordings from supported platforms.

YouTube reinstates that GTA V exploding Galaxy Note 7 video

The video of the GTA V mod featuring an exploding Galaxy Note 7 has resurfaced on YouTube. Following Samsung’s takedown request to YouTube – who did indeed remove the video – the YouTube channel owner who posted the video filed a counter-claim against Samsung. And won. Galaxy Note 7 recall could cause major internal changes at Samsung News sdaddy345 submitted the claim, got his video reinstated and promptly published the entire correspondence with YouTube so we could all see how it went down.
