ZTE partners with AT&T to create the carrier's first plug-in mobile hotspot for the car

ZTE has just partnered with AT&T to create the carrier’s first plug-in Wi-Fi mobile hotspot for the car. This new device is called the Mobley, and it will allow up to five mobile devices to connect to the internet using high-speed data from AT&T on the go. The Mobley connects to your vehicle’s OBD II port and should work with most vehicles made in 1996 and later. Once you plug it in for the first time, you won’t need to fuss with any extra charging cables or additional cords – your vehicle will automatically power the Mobley, giving you quick access to a Wi-Fi connection whenever you need it.

FTC finally wakes up to AT&T throttling unlimited data speeds

9to5Mac alerts us to the FTC announcing that they are suing AT&T for “deceptive and unfair data throttling”. The FTC is specifically going after AT&T’s practice of slowing down data speeds for customers with unlimited data plans even though customers with tiered data plans saw no drop in speed. “AT&T promised its customers ‘unlimited’ data, and in many instances, it has failed to deliver on that promise. The issue here is simple: ‘unlimited’ means unlimited.

Only one company has heating issues, and it's not us

TL;DR Mediatek representatives have dismissed heating concerns regarding the Dimensity 9000. A company executive pointed the finger at rival chip designer Qualcomm instead. Mediatek has just announced the Dimensity 9000 processor, intending to take on Qualcomm’s best flagship chipsets. Between the TSMC 4nm process, CPU layout, and impressive imaging capabilities, this chipset definitely has the potential to steal some thunder from Qualcomm and Samsung’s 2022 silicon. The announcement also comes after reports earlier this year that the current Snapdragon 888 series processor, built on a Samsung 5nm process, suffers from overheating and/or throttling.

Oracle introduces a DIY tablet, the DukePad

That ultra-bulky monstrosity that you see above is Oracle’s first attempt at a tablet, known as the DukePad. Before you start criticizing the design and bulk, it’s important to know exactly what the DukePad is all about. Instead of a standard consumer device, the DukePad is completely open-source, and Oracle currently only provides the “blueprints” necessary to get the device up and running. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Verizon price, specs, release date

Verizon has announced that it is launching the 4G LTE version of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 on August 17. The 7-inch tablet will play nice with Big Red’s extensive 4G network, which now covers 337 markets in the US. Theoretically you can get up to 15Mbps of download speeds and 5Mbps for uploads. The Galaxy tab 2 7.0 is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and comes with Android 4.

Google Pay is now available in 28 countries thanks to Chile, France

Google Pay is the official payment solution on Android, if ever there were one. It’s been slowly making its way around the world, and you can now add two more countries to the list. The payment service has landed in France, according to FrAndroid (h/t: 9to5Google), allowing you to make payments in apps, on websites, and (of course) in stores.
