Google has a relatively large presence at CES 2019, but up until this point, the company has been reasonably quiet. That changes now, though, as the search giant is adding a decent number of new Google Assistant features.
Google Maps integrationFirst up, the Google Assistant is now being integrated into Maps. Before, you could ask the Assistant to get directions to a location, and Maps would handle getting you directions. Now, you can ask the voice assistant to share your ETA with friends and family, respond to text messages (more on that below), play music and podcasts, and add pit-stops all with your voice.
In February 2011, Amazon announced that Amazon Prime members could access thousands of streaming movies and TV shows for free as part of the Amazon Prime Video subscription service. Today, it is estimated that there are over 160 million people around the globe who have access to Amazon Prime features, including its streaming video library. That’s a massive audience for any TV show, current or classic, spread across devices ranging from smartphones to big-screen TVs.
Although we are spoiled for choice in theAndroid market, placing your hands on your perfect smartphone is sometimes a little more difficult than it perhaps should be. Limited regional availability, exclusive invite systems, and territorial price variations can make third party, grey market retailers quite appealing, and in most cases these companies provide a valuable service. However, it seems that some companies are abusing this demand and tampering with devices, even going so far as to install malware onto customer’s brand new smartphones.
If the 128GB of storage the LG G8 ThinQ comes with isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that you can expand it via a microSD card — up to 2TB. There are a lot of options out there, some of which are better than others. We’ve compiled a list of the best ones all of which are U3 rated, so you won’t have any problems shooting video in 4K.
At Google I/O 2016, we got our first look at a wonderful new feature coming to Android called Instant Apps. Basically, Instant Apps allow you to access a cloud-based version of the app on your Android phone without requiring you to install it from the Play Store. This will not only save users time and effort, but they’ll also allow companies to let people demo what’s essentially a full version of their app before installing it.
The Huawei P8 (the “Ascend”branding has been dropped) is a 5.2-inch Full HD device that impresses through its sleek metallic design and intriguing camera features. The device follows the well-received Ascend P7 from last year, a phone that we appreciated for its design, great display, and powerful front camera. It remains to be seen whether the P8 remedies the issues we highlighted in our review, including the mediocre speakers, rear camera, and performance.
We’ve seen numerous foldable phone designs in recent months, with the big-name players offering interesting takes on the formula. Now, it seems Sony may be hard at work on a drastically different device.
According to tech tipster Max J. on Twitter, Sony is working on a rival to Samsung and Huawei’s devices, featuring a so-called Nautilus Design. The leaker attached a GIF from a 2016 video, showing a screen that rolls up akin to a scroll.
Most mobile gamers know about Hearthstone. It’s one of the most popular card dueling games of all time. It also helped kickstart the trend on mobile phones. We’ve seen a number of similar games hit the Play Store, including some from rather large names like Wizards of the Coast, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and others. People who like the fantasy card dueling style definitely have more options than ever before. Here are the best card dueling options for Android.
It was a sad day when I had to get rid of my Samsung Galaxy S5. We’ve all gotta upgrade sometime, but I still miss it. Okay I guess it didn’t look as good as later models, but I loved the replaceable battery. If I was heading out for the day it was always handy to have a spare on hand.
This battery pack is thinner than your smartphone, and yet the 15,000mAh capacity is enough to charge your device 8 times over (hence the name).
TL;DR
OnePlus officially revealed some images and specs of the OnePlus Nord CE 2. The phone lacks the OnePlus alert slider and borrows some design elements of Oppo phones. OnePlus also confirmed battery, charging, and storage specs. The first thing you’ll notice is it lacks the traditional OnePlus hardware alert slider. Obviously, this feature did not appear on the original OnePlus Nord CE either (the “CE” stands for “Core Edition”).
