Google’s Nik Collection of photo editing tools will no longer be updated

Google looks like it is slowly phasing out the use of its Nik Collection, the desktop PC-based photo editing tools. A new message on the collection’s official website has confirmed that Google now has “no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time.” There’s no specific reason given for why this decision was made. Google first acquired the Nik Collection in 2012, as part of the purchase of the Germany-based Nik Software.

AT&T teases imminent Galaxy S6 Active release

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active has been leaked enough times for us to know it’s certainly happening but we still don’t actually known the handset will launch. If AT&T’s tweet is anything to go by however, we should see the rugged version of the Galaxy S6 launched any day now. Google Maps still available offline via “OK Maps” easter egg in Android app update

Luckily, there’s a sort-of easter egg feature that will let you still enjoy offline maps whenever there’s no Internet connection available. The feature is called “OK Maps” – or better said that’s what you’ll have to search for inside the app to enable offline maps. In order to save maps and access them offline, you’ll have to go to the map region that you want to save, type “ok maps” into the search bar (or “okay maps” as shown in the image above by TechCrunch) and the map area will be saved for offline browsing.

TCL addresses BlackBerry KEYone screen separation issue

The KeyOne was the beginning of a new direction. As already reported a few days ago, JerryRigEverything got their hands on the BlackBerry KEYone smartphone and tested it out to see just how durable it is. The end result wasn’t really that great, as the device’s screen popped out of its frame during a bend test. It appears that there’s just virtually no adhesive on the back of the screen that would keep it from coming out.

Galaxy S5 to launch on February 23, at 6PM, in Barcelona

Eldar Murtazin, a well-connected blogger with a relatively good track-record when it comes to leaks, just tweeted that the Galaxy S5 will launch on February 23, ahead of MWC 2014 Barcelona. Murtazin claims the Galaxy S5 will be announced on Sunday, February 23, at 6PM, and that it will be in stores by the end of April. Samsung Galaxy S5 launch – 18.00. Barcelona. 23 February. Price the same. Launch – end of April.

Larry Page and Steve Jobs: advice given, lessons learned

At the time Steve Jobs was nearing the end of his long bout with cancer, an important shift in Google management was afoot. Samsung cuts Galaxy 2 Tab 2 7.0 price to $250, Galaxy Player 3.6 and 4.2 joins the roster

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and 10.1 don’t exactly fit the description of high-end tablets in 2012, as they only offer minimal improvement over their predecessors, if any.  The good news is Samsung has decided to cut the price of the smaller device, even before it hits stores.  The Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 will now be priced at $250 with the price of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to remain at $400.
