Huawei Mate 40 availability may be pushed back to 2021

TL;DR The availability of the Huawei Mate 40 series could be delayed. Although the launch is still rumored for October, the phone line may only go on sale in 2021. The delay could be a symptom of the US trade ban or a China-first launch approach by Huawei. The Huawei Mate 40 series is likely to be the next flagship in Huawei’s traditional biannual release cycle, but you may have to wait a lot longer to get one this time around.

Verizon's Galaxy Nexus reportedly discounted to just $0.97 at Walmart

Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus might have been overshadowed by the snappier Galaxy S3 or HTC One X in the past months, but it’s still a darn solid phone that won’t let you down. There are two extra reasons why you should consider getting Verizon’s variant of the GNex these days, the first being the official Jelly Bean update that is currently rolling out “in waves”. The second? Well, this might even be more appealing than Android 4.

Verizon CEO praises T-Mobile's 'uncarrier' approach

As we all know, T-Mobile recently stopped subsidizing phones. This move is a pretty radical departure from the typical business model all carriers promote. Typically, a device is subsidized and a contract is signed, which lowers the upfront cost of the device… but keeps us tied down to carriers for two years or so. At a conference yesterday, Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam praised T-Mobile’s efforts to end subsidies. He mentioned Verizon was very interested in what T-Mobile was doing, and would be watching them closely.

Which quality setting do you use for Google Photos backups?

Robert Triggs / Android Authority Update: May 31, 2022 (4:05 AM ET): This poll is over now, and we’ve published our poll results article. You can read it over here. Original article: May 27, 2022 (4:08 AM ET): Google Photos is celebrating its anniversary tomorrow (May 28), but it’s undergone a few changes since its inception. Perhaps the biggest change is that it moved away from unlimited high quality storage, but still dishes out 15GB of free storage for your photo and video backups.

Gmail's 'Quote Selected Text' goes back to Labs

The official statement from the search giant is found in its official Gmail page in Google+, which goes: In December, we graduated Quote Selected Text from Gmail Labs. We’ve been listening to user feedback since the graduation and have decided to move the feature back into Gmail Labs. Users sometimes unintentionally quoted text they had inadvertently selected, which caused some confusion. For those of you who like the feature, you can still enable it in Gmail Labs.

Snapdragon 805, 2560x1440 display, 225Mbps LTE

Samsung just made the long rumored Galaxy S5 LTE-A official in South Korea. Like its predecessor, the S4 LTE-A, this device will likely remain a South Korean exclusive, and boy we have reasons to be jealous. The Galaxy S5 LTE (which appears to be the long rumored S5 Prime) is the first device on the market to pack a Snapdragon 805 processor, rocking Krait 450 cores, 3GB of RAM, and impressive 225Mbps LTE-Advanced network speeds.

Vivo Nex vs Google Pixel 2 camera comparison: Closer than you might think

When it comes to smartphone cameras, the Google Pixel 2 is the de facto benchmark for most of us, even though it came out in 2017. Whether it’s still the best smartphone camera isn’t the point — it’s simply the phone camera most of us are most familiar with. That’s why I took a bunch of comparison shots with the Pixel 2 while I was in China for the Vivo Nex launch this week.

First Samsung Galaxy S6 Mini pics leak; set for August launch?

With all the commotion between the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Active, S6 Edge+, and Note 5, it’s no wonder that very little has been said -or seen- of the more “diminutive” form factored product in Samsung’s sizable stable of smartphones. Indeed, it has been assumed there would be a Galaxy S6 Mini in light of the ghosts of trends past, but we nothing solid had materialized. Until now, that is.
