Google is discontinuing the Chromecast Audio

Since its release in September 2015, the Chromecast Audio has been a quick and easy way to add smart functionality to standard speakers. When asked why this happened, customer service informed them that Google was killing the product so the purchase couldn’t be fulfilled.

Instagram's new Boomerang app lets you make 1-second video loops

https://vimeo.com/143161189 Popular photo sharing service Instagram has just launched a new standalone application called Boomerang. It’s a very simple app that serves only one purpose – to help you make short, 1-second long videos that loop back and forth. Instead of the app actually taking a video, though, Boomerang takes a burst of five photos and turns them into a silent video. Fakes are less common, but potentially even more damaging. The difference between the two is subtle, but important. A clone is an app or game that looks and acts very similarly to an existing app or game, but is not a full copy.

Hey Apple, now would be a great time to ditch Lightning and get with USB-C

Last week, the European Parliament unveiled a proposition to force the world’s tech giants to adopt a single universal charging standard, the most ubiquitous and modern of which is USB-C. The EU would like to see today’s three major charging port types (USB-C, Lightning, and MicroUSB), down from 30 proprietary standards in 2009, reduced to just one. The reasoning behind the call is primarily about cutting electronic waste, while also simplifying user purchasing decisions.
