HTC One V confirmed as coming to US Cellular and 27 regional carriers

According to an HTC press release issued earlier today, the One V should already be up for sale at US Cellular, but also on twenty-seven regional carriers which are members of something called ACG (Associated Carriers Group). As far as we can tell, US Cellular’s website still doesn’t mention anything about the One V’s availability, but it’s safe to assume that the handheld will pop up online in a matter of hours or in a day or two, at the latest.

Poll: Do you use Bluetooth headphones or do you live the #donglelife?

Most of today’s popular smartphones don’t have a headphone jack. It’s annoying, but it’s the world we live in now. Initially, this was a bigger deal; such a courageous decision was bound to shock the tech community, as we all relied on wired headphones for our listening needs. As time passed, though, many of the people who originally complained about the shift either bit the bullet and purchased a pair of Bluetooth headphones or resorted to using the wired dongle.

We now have "4.5G" and "Pre-5G" technology

As I have written about a number of times, companies are seemingly trying to one-up each other with ridiculous 5G technology claims without any idea what 5G means since it has not even been defined yet. Some are even marketing their so-called 5G wireless packages which include speeds that barely reach what is defined today as 4G. Then there are islands looking to have the world’s first “5G network.” But now we are seeing a new trend.

YouTuber visits mobile brand's office for Android source code

TL;DR A YouTuber has jumped through a major hoop in order to get source code from an Android OEM. Umidigi requires customers to visit their Shenzhen office during business hours. The firm also says employees at this office only speak Chinese languages. The timely release of source code from Android manufacturers is one of the biggest annoyances in the enthusiast and custom ROM community. We’ve seen plenty of OEMs drag their feet in this regard, even though they are obliged to release this code as part of GPLv2.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus could soon get Note 9’s dockless DeX feature

TL;DR The Samsung Galaxy Experience 10 beta on the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus supports DeX mode without a dock. A video shows the desktop experience working via a USB-C to HDMI adapter. While the video only shows the S9 Plus, the feature could also come to other Samsung phones. The upcoming Android Pie and Samsung Experience 10 update for the Galaxy S9 Plus may let users run DeX — Samsung’s phone powered desktop experience — without a dock.

Update, August 26, 2019 (3:19AM ET): Xiaomi and MediaTek previously announced that the Helio G90T chipset will appear in the Redmi Note 8 series. Now, Xiaomi has taken to Weibo to reveal that the standard Redmi Note 8 model will offer the Snapdragon 665 processor. This suggests that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will receive the Helio G90T then. The Snapdragon 665 is an incremental upgrade over the Snapdragon 660 used in the Redmi Note 7.

If you still have the older Arrow launcher you will migrated to the new Microsoft Launcher app over time.
