Update, May 2, 2019 (1:24PM EST): On a Reddit thread, users commented that they’re already seeing the new Tiles feature on their Wear OS devices.
Reddit users are seeing the feature on the Huawei Watch 2 Classic, Movado Connect, Misfit Vapor 2, Fossil Q Founder Gen 2, Montblanc Summit 2, TicWatch E, E2, S, and S2, and Fossil Sport. Users also reported seeing Tiles on other smartwatches, but keep in mind that this is a server-side switch.
At CES 2014 Parrot is bringing us two brand new phone-controlled robotic devices, the MiniDrone and the two-wheeled Jumping Sumo robot. The first of these is essentially a miniaturized version of the popular AR Drone quadrocopter, albeit lacking when it comes to the recording/viewfinder camera found on the larger version.
One major difference between the AR Drone and the MiniDrone is the later’s removable set of wheels, allowing you to roll along the ground and even on the walls and ceilings.
With the fanfare of MWC 2019 behind us, we can now take a step back and look at this year’s hot topic at the show — the race to 5G. As far as smartphones are concerned, Qualcomm appears to be well ahead of the curve. The company had a number of 5G partner devices on display at the Barcelona event and will be powering the first wave of 5G handsets scheduled to appear in the coming months.
The Essential Phone started with a list price of $699, but Essential dropped the price permanently by $200 a short time later. So really, buying an Essential Phone at its current list price is already kind of a deal. But hey, who’s going to complain if the price gets dropped even further?
Today, you can get an unlocked Essential Phone in Black Moon color for only $449 — a cool $50 off the current list price.
A question that I’m asked quite often is, which handset is best for network, especially for people who live in areas with spotty coverage (at best). For several years, this has been relatively easy to answer as Samsung’s flagships usually had better coverage and signal strength than its rivals but as we covered earlier this year, the change in build on the Galaxy S6 resulted in Samsung slipping down the list.
Sony on Friday announced that its new PlayStation App for Android will be launched in mid-November in certain markets, just in time for the PlayStation 4 arrival, its brand new gaming console.
The app will be available as a free download from the Google Play Store starting with November 13 (North America) and November 22 (Europe), or just a few days ahead of the respective PlayStation 4 launch dates for these regions.
TL;DR
Information just leaked from Samsung itself, giving us the details on the Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus. The Galaxy A6 looks to be a basic low-to-mid-range device, while the Galaxy A6 Plus seems like a more robust phone for its speculated price. No release date is yet known, but both devices will likely land in May. A month ago, we got wind that the Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus was coming soon through a support page showing up on Samsung’s Poland portal.

A simple search of ‘2048’ will show so many games of almost the exact same name, it’s hard to distinguish which came first. The most popular 2048 games have been downloaded more than 10 million times, but all of them were based off of one game, and that game is Threes! Threes is a simple puzzle game about matching numbers and adding them together to create subsequently larger numbers. It’s a game that’s quite addictive, and across Android and iOS it has been installed more than a million times.
During the opening keynote of the Google I/O 2019 developer conference, Google announced several improvements to its Google Lens image recognition technology.
First up is the ability to highlight popular dishes when you point a Lens-enabled app at a restaurant menu. Tapping on the popular dishes brings up photos and review comments within Lens using information from Google Maps. Even better, you can scan a bill to automatically calculate the tip and split the bill with others.
