PPSSPP PSP emulator version 1.0 hits Google Play

The PPSSPP emulator has been available on Android for a while, but up until now it was still technically a beta product. Today the project has come out of beta, now marked as version 1.0. The latest version brings a coat of polish to the PPSSPP experience for those that previously were using the beta. There’s also a ton of graphics glitch fixes and other bug fixes that should result in a more stable experience.

The revived Google Maps for Apple Watch is finally available

It can take directions from your phone or provide quick access to home and work. It’s not quite as powerful as Apple Maps, but it is a major alternative. It’s been a month since Google announced the return of Maps for Apple Watch, and now it’s finally here.

OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple launches in EU and US

TL;DR OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant will be available November 15 in Europe and North America. OnePlus previously announced the Thunder Purple color for China. The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple variant features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Even though OnePlus already announced the OnePlus 6T in Thunder Purple for China, it was only a matter of time until other regions got a taste of the new color.

There's an affordable portable display on Kickstarter!

If you’re in the market for a portable display, UNICK promises to deliver the most affordable option with the Gemini. The Gemini is a 15.6-inch portable display with minimal top and side bezels that comes in two versions: one with Full HD resolution, and a second with 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution. The Full HD version is touch-sensitive, whereas the 4K version is not. That said, the 4K version covers 100 percent of the Adobe RGB color space.

For those of you who frequently make or receive calls on your Android phone, an effective app known as SpeakerProximity can be a handy app.  In a nutshell, the app provides automatic switching between earpiece and loudspeaker, depending on how far your phone is from you. SpeakerProxmity can be extremely useful in sticky situations when you need both hands on the wheel or when taking calls while performing certain tasks requiring both hands.

Barnes and Noble suspends sales of $50 Nook Android 7-inch tablet (Update: get your replacement charger now!)

Update (2/1):  Late last year Barnes and Noble returned to the tablet business after previously opting instead to create “Nook” versions of Samsung Galaxy Tab products. The goal was to give the Kindle Fire some competition in the cheap tablet space. Unfortunately, things haven’t worked out so well for the book retailer. After pulling the tablet a few weeks earlier, B&N has now formally announced its recall of the Nook 7, in conjunction with the U.

Motorola talks unlocking bootloaders; starts with Motorola Photon Q

Motorola Mobility is notorious for locking the bootloaders on a large majority of their devices.  We’ve seen them release device after devices with locked bootloaders and even promises of said bootloaders being unlocked in the future without following through. In fact, the development and modding sectors of the Android community have even sought changes to Motorola’s bootloader policies via online petitions. Sadly, the outcries of the community did nothing back then.

Snapchat update lets you send money to other users

Snapchat is getting a new trick that goes beyond sending self-destructing messages to your friends, now you can send money too. The new feature is called Snapcash and it is designed to easily send cash to friends and family. We know what you’re thinking, “why would anyone want to trust Snapchat, an app with a fairly bad security record, with their financials?” Thankfully Snapchat’s partner, Square, will be handling the security side of things.
