uConsent app helps partners consent to hooking up

TL;DR uConsent is a new app that enables partners to create consent agreements before engaging in sex. The process involves making a contract and getting your smartphones to “agree” to the terms. The process seems clunky and could cause more problems than you’d expect. With the #metoo movement, Bill Cosby’s conviction, and the allegations surrounding Harvey Weinstein, sexual consent is on people’s minds more than ever before. It was only a matter of time before you could say, “There’s an app for that,” when it comes to sexual consent.

Google bringing app install ads to Search and Youtube

Over the last few years, the web has become a rather mobile-centric place, and that’s led to changes not only in the way that many websites work, but it’s also had an impact on services such as Google Search. Last year, Google began partnering with select app makers to offer an “open in app” button to Google Search results and earlier this month Google expanded this effort to include more apps and to launch in several markets outside of the United States.

More Chromebooks get Google Play, Night Light hits Chrome OS dev channel

Back in January, Google announced that all Chromebooks launched in 2017 and onwards will support Android apps. A few months ago, a total of 16 new Chromebook models received access to the Play Store but only in the Chrome OS Beta Channel. Now, four models have gained support for Android apps on the stable version of the operating system. These are the Asus Chromebook Flip C302, Dell Chromebook 3189, Lenovo Chromebook N22, and Lenovo IdeaPad N42 Chromebook.

coming October 19 for $49

As Google’s latest product launch event draws ever nearer, the rumors surrounding it occur more frequently too. We’re only a day away from the Google show and we’ve already heard much about the company’s new Pixel phones. Thanks to a fresh leak from a popular online retailer, we’ve also now got a few more details about the rumored Google Home Mini. In a Walmart listing that was quickly pulled (but not before it was spotted by Droid Life), the Google Home Mini appeared for pre-order, alongside details of its price and release date.

Google travels to the Grand Canyon in the name of Street View

In order to get good 360 degree footage of the Grand Canyon, the Street View team has to trek through the Grand Canyon to obtain the images. Just think, most people do this as a vacation. Street View is doing it for work to benefit us couch explorers out there who want to see it all through our computer screens. The team is using a piece of hardware called Trekkers. Not to be confused with Trekkies.

Android's competitor during week of February 28, 2020

This week in Apple news we saw mega-retailer Target unwittingly suggest that there are several new Apple products on the way. It turns out that the company’s inventory system lists products it knows are coming well in advance, which strongly suggests we will see a few new Apple products within the next month or so. Elsewhere, we saw the new Lady Gaga video which was shot entirely on an iPhone 11, new rumors about an iPad keyboard case and trackpad, iPhone XR sales still going strong, and more!

Google Photos automatically turns your photos into themed movies on demand

TL;DR Google Photos can now automatically make themed videos on demand. Themes include Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Father’s Day, among others. Google said more themes will rollout as the year progresses. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Google Photos automatically takes your photos and groups them together into themed movies. This can be done on the mobile app and the web. Do not expect much in the way of machine learning, however.

here's what you need to know

It’s no secret the tablet market isn’t what it used to be. It’s hard to get excited about a tablet in 2018, but Google hopes to change that with its newly announced Google Pixel Slate. The Google Pixel Slate is a Chrome OS-powered tablet that is also capable of transforming into a laptop using a keyboard dock. Essentially this is Google’s take on the Microsoft Surface. The design is functional, though far from game-changing There’s really only so many ways to design a tablet, and so there’s nothing particularly innovative to be seen here in terms of design.
