Update: While we reported on Gmail 5.0 rolling out to Google Play over the weekend, and even included an APK for download, it turns out we were a little premature. The app had not in fact hit Google Play for anyone, and the APK was simply a very far along (essentially finished) copy. We don’t have the final Google Play APK yet, though hopefully it is only a matter of days before it hits your device.

Got YouTube Premium or Play Music in US? Google has a free Nest Mini for you

Google is no stranger to giving away smart speakers, as it’s frequently dished out Home Mini or Nest Mini devices to subscribers of its services (and even Spotify subscribers). Now, a reddit user has spotted another promotion by Google (h/t: 9to5Google), as it’s giving away free Nest Mini speakers to YouTube Premium, YouTube Music Premium, or Google Play Music subscribers in the US. What I want from Motorola's foldable RAZR reboot

The Motorola RAZR is primed to redefine foldable phones — and (hopefully) Motorola’s iconic brand. The company has an event scheduled later this week in Los Angeles where it is widely expected to show off its first phone with a foldable display. Motorola has been teasing the phone’s release for a few weeks, and a handful of leaks have already given us a sneak peak at the RAZR. Other than these tidbits, there’s little we really know about the forthcoming foldable.

Google Play Music updated to reduce mobile data usage

The problem with cloud based computing is you need a good data connection to the Internet. Broadband services at home (including those lucky enough to have Google Fiber) are great and in the most part offer unlimited bandwidth. But on mobile it is different. Data plans are often capped or the carrier’s unlimited options are beyond the means of many users. To help ease the data usage problem for those streaming music over a 3G or 4G connection Google has updated its Play Music app to add new streaming quality settings.
